VERO BEACH — Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying an armed robbery suspect who stole an undisclosed amount of cash from a restaurant safe.

No injuries were reported in the incident, Vero Beach police spokesman Officer Darrell Rivers said.

Police said the suspect, armed with a silver handgun, walked into Moe’s Southwest Grill at 10:16 p.m. June 10 at 1601 U.S. 1., near 8th Avenue and just south of 17th Street. The Mexican restaurant was closed and an employee was taking trash outside when the suspect walked in, Rivers said.

Rivers said the suspect pointed the firearm at three employees and had them take him to the safe, located in the back of the restaurant.  It was unclear if the suspect fled on foot or got into a vehicle when he left the grill.

Officers described the suspect as a black male, between 5-feet 7-inches and 5-feet 10-inches tall, and weighing 175 pounds. Police said the suspect has a slim build and was wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt, dark colored bandanna, dark green camouflage style pants, and yellow sock-like covers over his shoes.

Anyone with information on the suspect should contact police Detective Dan Brumley at 772-978-4600. Residents can also call Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273-TIPS.
