Man suspected of raping, threatening to kill woman

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A 46-year-old man was jailed after deputies said he beat and raped a woman, then threatened to kill her if she contacted law enforcement.

Jason Himmer

Deputies arrested Jason Michael Himmer, of Brevard County, on a warrant for charges of sexual battery, false imprisonment and battery by strangulation. Himmer was held Friday at the Indian River County Jail on $150,000 bond.

Indian River County deputies spoke with the woman April 29 at the Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital. The woman had a large bruise to her left eye and on the left side of her face, reports show.

The woman told deputies she and her boyfriend, Himmer, got into an argument earlier about the location of a vehicle key in their room at Motel 6, 8800 20th Street, Vero Beach.

The argument turned physical when Himmer punched the woman several times and then threw her around the room, reports show. Himmer held the woman down on the bed and used his hand to cover her mouth as she tried to scream for help, deputies said.

Himmer then told the woman he wanted to have sex with her and began pulling off her clothes, reports show. The woman refused several times, deputies said.

Deputies said Himmer had sex with the woman against her will. Himmer then took the keys to a Mercedes and fled the area, reports show.

Wednesday, deputies arrested Himmer and took him to the county jail. Himmer has an arraignment at 8:45 a.m. July 3, court records show.
