‘Ace’ in this place: Indian Harbour Beach excited for new hardware store

The future of Indian Harbour Beach do-it-yourself projects is looking bright with the upcoming opening of the 9,000-square-foot Island Hardware as a lease in the location of the former South Patrick Hardware and Lumber, 1847 South Patrick Dr.

New owner Eddie Struttmann for 50 years has owned the Ace Hardware in Indialantic. He is excited about continuing the tradition providing special services in the prime location on South Patrick Drive and boasts that the new store starts with more than 100 years of staff hardware experience.

“It is our associates that have driven our success in the community throughout our many years. We look forward to bringing that depth of service and knowledge to our new store in Indian Harbour Beach,” he said.

Island Hardware will be a full-service Ace Hardware store with the old-fashioned services that you would expect to find, including a service and repair shop for irrigation and pool equipment, and lawn and garden power equipment. The staff can also repair and make window screens, sharpen knives, tools, scissors and chainsaw blades.

In addition to knowledgeable associates, the store will have on its shelves national brands and other items to help fill smaller special market needs not dominated by the offerings of nearby Big Box stores. Brands include Yeti coolers, Big Green Egg and Weber grills; Dewalt, Milwaukee and Craftsman tools; Stihl power equipment; and Clarke + Kensington and Richards paints.

“We intend to bring a unique shopping experience to the community,’’ Struttmann said.

A soft opening is scheduled for this summer with a grand opening expected in early fall, he said.

The Island Hardware store replaces a now-closed store in the Publix shopping center at 1024 State Road A1A in Satellite Beach.

The leasing of the former lumber yard helps maintain an important community function and will rejuvenate the South Patrick Drive business corridor for the city of Indian Harbour Beach, said Indian Harbour Beach City Manager Mark Ryan.

“We are pleased to welcome Ace Hardware to Indian Harbour Beach. This new location will be larger than their previous location and will provide a greater opportunity for Ace to provide more products and services,’’ he said.
