Deputies arrested Mariah Victoria Lewis, of the 1200 block of Normandie Way, Vero Beach, on charges of aggravated assault and battery. Lewis was released Sunday from the Indian River County Jail on $3,000 bond.

Indian River County deputies were called to reports of a fight about 11 p.m. Sunday in the 3800 block of 44th Street. Lewis told deputies she got into an argument earlier with her boyfriend’s sister.

Lewis threw a drink on the woman and the two began to fight, deputies said. Lewis said the other woman and several other people then attacked and beat her.

The other woman said the fight was between her and Lewis, and did not involve the others, reports show. The woman said Lewis ran inside a home and grabbed the knife and a screw driver before running back outside.

The other woman and witnesses said Lewis chased the woman around the front of the residence with the knife, reports show. The other woman told deputies she feared for her life.

Lewis admitted she had the knife and screwdriver, but said it was because “people were chasing her and she was scared,” authorities said.

Deputies arrested Lewis and took her to the county jail. Lewis has an arraignment at 8:45 a.m. May 10, court records show.
