All roads reopen after multi-vehicle crash that left 1 seriously hurt

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Four people were hurt – one seriously – in a multi-vehicle crash that closed southbound U.S. 1, fire rescue crews said.

Indian River County Fire Rescue was called to the collision about 1:15 p.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of southbound U.S. 1, Battalion Chief Kyle Kofke said. Three people had minor injuries.

A fourth person was taken by ambulance to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce with serious injuries, Kofke said.

The crash closed U.S. 1 south of 4th Street. It was unclear when the roadway would reopen.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers will investigate the cause of the wreck.
