1 seriously hurt after two-vehicle crash; U.S. 1 SB closed

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A person was seriously hurt Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash that closed southbound U.S. 1, fire rescue crews said.

The wreck involving a sports utility vehicle and a car happened about noon Monday in the 8500 block of U.S. 1, Indian River County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Kyle Kofke said. One person was being taken by ambulance to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne with serious injuries.

The collision closed southbound U.S. 1 from Old Dixie Highway to 84th Place, Kofke said. The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the crash.
