Missing man found safe, deputies say

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Deputies early Wednesday spotted a 71-year-old man, who was reported missing, walking on the side of the road in south county.

Deputies found Lessons Francois, who does not speak English, about 8 a.m. Wednesday walking in the 800 block of south U.S. 1, Indian River County sheriff’s spokesman Maj. Eric Flowers said. Francois, of the 200 block of 13th Place Southwest, was listed as missing and endangered late Tuesday.

Francois was described as endangered because he only speaks Creole, had no cell phone, no vehicle, no friends or family in the area. Francois did not have a known medical history.

Deputies put out an alert to the public Tuesday asking for help to locate Francois. He was seen Tuesday walking west on Oslo Road from Old Dixie Highway Southwest, before deputies found him safe Wednesday.
