‘You just got stabbed’ – Woman charged with slicing relative

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A 39-year-old woman was arrested Monday after deputies said she got in an argument with a relative before slicing her in the face with an unknown object.

Onlookers told the victim, “You just got stabbed,” reports show. Deputies obtained surveillance footage of the incident, which shows Sherry S. Troutman swinging at the victim with what appeared to be a knife with a blade nearly 10 inches long.

Deputies on Monday arrested Troutman on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Troutman was released Wednesday from the Indian River County Jail on $30,000 bond.

Indian River County deputies responded to reports of a stabbing about 7 p.m. Monday at a plaza at 2420 45th Street. Deputies saw drops of blood at the front of a convenience store, reports show.

Deputies went to Indian River Medical Center and spoke with the victim. The victim said she was dancing with her family members at the plaza earlier when Troutman pulled up in a Honda Accord and almost ran over the victim, reports show.

Troutman told the victim, “You better move before I run your (expletive) over and put you where you belong,” authorities said. The two continued to argue when Troutman reached under her driver’s seat and grabbed the object.

The victim said Troutman got out of the car and struck her in the face with the object. Family members grabbed the victim and drove her to the hospital, reports show.

Deputies arrested Troutman and took her to the county jail. Troutman has an arraignment at 8:45 a.m. March 15, court records show.
