INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Gov. Rick Scott named former county commissioner Wesley Davis to the role of the property appraiser late Monday, replacing David C. Nolte, who died in November.

“It is humbling to know that our governor spent some of his last moments in office caring so much about Indian River County to fill this vacancy,” Davis said in an emailed statement. “I pledge to make the governor and every county resident proud.”

Davis’ appointment term as the Indian River County Property Appraiser is effective Monday, government officials said. Davis unsuccessfully ran against Nolte in 2016 for the property appraiser’s seat.

Davis, 49, of Vero Beach, is a lifelong county resident and fourth generation citrus grower. Davis received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and is also a former school board member, according to government officials.

His predecessor, Nolte, passed November 6, 2018. Nolte was 75 years old.
