IRMC now in Cleveland Clinic’s hands

Cleveland Clinic Indian River

All went as expected on a scheduled 9 a.m. New Year’s Eve conference call between attorneys representing Indian River Medical Center, the Hospital District and Cleveland Clinic.

The signed documents in the merger of the Vero hospital and the world renowned health system have been released, effectively closing the deal just in time for 2019.

Signage will not go up until mid-January but with the closing, the hospital becomes  Cleveland Clinic Indian River. What was once Indian River County’s only non profit independent hospital joins the Florida division of Cleveland Clinic, based in Weston, Fla.

Three more hospitals are to join the Vero hospital shortly as part of the expansion: Tradition Medical cenCen in Port St. Lucie, Martin Medical Center in Stuart and Martin South Hospital in Palm City.

Those three are part of Martin Health, which is expected to close on its merger with Cleveland Clinic in the near future.
