Driver injured in early-morning crash in Vero

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The driver of a vehicle believed to have run a red light Wednesday morning was taken to a trauma center.

Authorities have not released the identity of the driver, who they say went through the red light at 27th Avenue and 12th Street around 5:30 a.m. The driver was taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center.

The sedan was traveling westbound on 12th Street when it didn’t stop at the intersection. A truck, believed to have the right of way, struck the car as it was traveling north on 27th Avenue.

No injuries to the truck’s driver were reported. How bad the sedan’s driver’s injuries are were not immediately known.
