Woman hurt after falling 9 feet from attic

VERO BEACH — A woman in her 60’s suffered traumatic injuries after falling nine feet from an attic at her residence, authorities said.

The woman’s granddaughter called 911 about 3:30 p.m. Thursday from their home in the 700 block of Dahlia Lane, Indian River County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Kyle Kofke said. The woman fell and hit the concrete.

Kofke said the woman was alert and oriented, but possibly had a skull fracture. The woman was taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce with serious injuries, Kofke said.

Further details on the incident were not immediately available.
