Driver may face charges in fatality IN FATALITY

A deadly crash in Melbourne Beach could result in charges against one of the drivers involved.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 19-year-old Kyah Muntz of Melbourne Beach was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of State Road A1A at 2:50 a.m. on Dec. 14 when her 2006 Volkswagen struck the front of a 2013 Chevy Cruz for “an unknown reason.

Kavika Church, 23, of Orlando, a passenger in the Chevy, was killed. Fellow passenger, 28-year-old Grant Luker of Orlando, and the Chevy’s driver, 21-year-old Katlyn Duncan of Tampa, were seriously injured; all were wearing seatbelts.

The victims were transferred to Holmes Regional Medical Center. The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending against Muntz.

The accident, which occurred near SR A1A and Sabal Ridge Lane, forced a road closure for several hours, resulting in school bus delays.
