Storm Grove placed on brief lockdown after road rage incident

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A road rage incident near a local middle school led authorities to place the campus on a brief, precautionary lock down Monday afternoon, officials said.

Authorities placed a lock down at Storm Grove Middle School about 3 p.m. Monday, Indian River County sheriff’s spokesman Maj. Eric Flowers said. The lock down was lifted by 3:20 p.m.

Flowers said the road rage incident happened on 66th Avenue, not far from the school campus. A vehicle involved – a white van – turned east on 57th Street and was last seen eastbound traveling in the direction of the school.

Deputies are still searching for the van, Flowers said. Further details on the road rage incident were not immediately available.
