Cotugno, Dingle win Vero seats; Jones, McPartlan and Nun win Sebastian seats

Mayor John Cotugno and Taylor Dingle won two open seats on the Vero Beach City Council in Tuesday's general election. Fred Jones, Bob McPartlan and Christopher Robert Nun won three open seats on the Sebastian City Council. Votes were tallied after residents hit the polls to choose who will represent the city council in the Vero Beach and Sebastian municipal elections. Polls opened at 7 a.m. and closed at 7 p.m. The general election had 30,461 active eligible voters, with 6,490 of those casting ballots, resulting in a 21.31 percent turnout, the Indian River County Supervisor of Elections website showed. Moore, Zudans, Carroll win Vero City Council race; Rosario wins School Board District 2 seat

Linda Moore, Tracey Zudans and John M. Carroll Jr. won the three open seats in Tuesday's general election for Vero Beach City Council, according to the Indian River County Supervisor of Elections website. Five other candidates trailed behind in the vote count. Zudans had 15 percent of votes, while Moore and Carroll had 14 percent of votes. Rosario won the District 2 seat for the Indian River County School Board. Rosario competed against Cynthia Gibbs in a runoff race for the school board seat. Both candidates, along with two others, ran in the August Primary Election. A winner was not declared for the primaries since no candidate earned more than 50 percent of the votes. Polls closed at 7 p.m. Tuesday as residents made their selections for who will fill three open seats on the Vero Beach City Council. Voters also decided on whether to approve or reject a referendum on the Three Corners Project. Residents also made their choice for who should be elected to School Board District 2 - Jackie Rosario or Cynthia Gibbs. Rosario and Gibbs, the top two vote-getters in the Primary Election, were sent to a runoff in August since no candidates for that race earned more than 50 percent of the vote.
