Teen nabbed for bizarre behavior outside school

An 18-year-old faces numerous charges – and has been Baker Acted – after exhibiting bizarre behavior outside Somerset College Preparatory Academy twice in one week.

On Tuesday, according to police: “At approximately 10:16 a.m., Carson Holbrook, an 18-year-old, walked onto the campus of Somerset College Preparatory Academy and remained outside the security fence. Mr. Holbrook began to yell for someone to open the gate. A student was walking out of the fenced area attempting to go to the mailbox. Mr. Holbrook grabbed her wrist and she pulled away and was able to close and lock the gate before he could gain entry. The student ran to the main office who contacted the S.R.O. As he was confronted by Port St. Lucie Police School Resource Officer Lushbaugh, Mr. Holbrook began to undress and threw his clothes at Officer Lushbaugh while he was waiting for back-up. When other officers arrived, he was taken into custody without incident and was arrested and charged with battery; indecent exposure; disrupting a school function; and trespassing on school grounds.”

In the previous incident, on Wednesday, Oct. 24, police were called to the school after an off-duty school safety officer chased off the teen. The disturbance occurred shortly after 5 p.m. when the teen allegedly exposed his genitals, urinated, chased and shoved students, and jumped on vehicles. Witnesses told investigators that the man, later identified as Holbrook, was speaking unintelligibly but would also yell and swear using racial and sexual epithets.

When the principal of the school approached Holbrook, the teen allegedly threatened to harm her and jumped onto a parked car. His attention then turned to another staff member, whom he followed; he then attacked her car, police said. Neither the staff member nor the principal was injured during the incident. The principal then notified the off-duty school safety officer, who was coaching an afterschool activity. The officer confronted Holbrook, who fled the campus. He was apprehended shortly thereafter.

Holbrook is not a student at the school.
