Deputies: Man with knife damages more than $9K worth of furniture

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Deputies are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man they said was caught on video slashing more than $9,000 worth of furniture at a local store.

The incident unfolded about 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Indian River Habitat for Humanity ReStore, 4580 U.S. 1. The man walked in the store and used a knife to damage the furniture, deputies said.

Video footage of the incident was not immediately available.

Anyone who knows the identity of the man should contact the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office at 772-978-6240. Callers can remain anonymous and possibly be eligible for a reward of up to $3,000 by contacting Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273-TIPS or tcwatch.org.
