Deputies: Argument fueled woman’s attempt to run man over

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A 30-year-old woman suspected of trying to run a man over with her vehicle after the two got in an argument, was arrested on a warrant early Wednesday.

A neighbor told deputies he saw the woman – identified as Corinne Raquel Joseph – driving a white two-door Infinity with a man lying on top of the hood, reports show.

Deputies arrested Joseph, of the 2300 block of 84th Court, on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Joseph was being held Wednesday at the Indian River County Jail on $10,000 bond.

Indian River County sheriff’s deputies responded to a disturbance about 7 p.m. Sunday at a residential parking lot in the 500 block of 7th Place. Deputies spoke with the victim, Joseph’s boyfriend, who had large bruises on his shins, reports show.

The victim said he and the woman got in an argument while inside her vehicle.

When the victim stepped out and tried to get his belongings, Joseph locked the doors and rolled up the windows, reports show. When Joseph tried to leave, the victim stepped in front of the vehicle with his arms stretched forward and demanded his belongings.

Joseph drove the vehicle forward slightly, hitting the man’s shins repeatedly, reports show. A neighbor told deputies he saw Joseph drive with the victim lying on top of the hood.

The neighbor said he heard the victim yell, “my bags!,” reports show.

The victim’s legs “were going slightly underneath the front of the vehicle” as Joseph drove, authorities said. When the victim yelled for the neighbor to call law enforcement, Joseph stopped the vehicle, let the victim get his belongings and then fled the area.

Deputies arrested Joseph and took her to the county jail. Joseph has an arraignment at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 31, court records show.
