Donald Kenneth Brown, 81, Vero Beach

Donald Kenneth Brown, 81, of Vero Beach, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2018, at VNA Hospice House after sharing time with family and friends. Don was born in Detroit, Mich., to Kenneth and Ruth Brown on Oct. 17, 1936.

He earned his Masters degree from Wayne State University in education and was captain of the tennis team. After graduating, Don went on to teach and was the boy’s tennis coach at Cranbrook Kingswood in Bloomfield Hills, Mich.

As a tennis professional, Don received honors as “USTA” national coach of the year and also high school national coach of the year.  As head coach of the Cranbrook boys tennis team he lead them to 16 state titles and 8 runner ups during his tenure.

Don was an active member of First Presbyterian Church and as a leader of the men’s F.O.C.U.S. and Fellowship Group in Vero Beach.

He is survived by his wife, Susan, and his five children Bonnie, Matt, Dana, Don, Ann; and his 10 grandchildren.

A Memorial Service was held at First Presbyterian Church in Vero Beach.

 

Margaret Randall Grant, 93, Vero Beach

Margaret Randall Grant, 93, passed away Aug. 29, 2018. She was born in Washington D.C. on March 30, 1925.

Margaret earned her Business Administration degree from the University of Maryland.

She married George Barr Grant in Washington D.C. on June 10, 1952. They were married for 46 years.

Mrs. Grant was a past leader, trainer, and was on the Executive Board of Girl Scouts of America at College Park, Mass.

She moved to Vero Beach in 1991, coming from Carnegie, Pa.

Mrs. Grant was a member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church, Vero Beach.

Survivors include her daughters, Anne Randall Grant of Carnegie and Pamela Elizabeth Grant of Vero Beach; son, Randall Barr Grant of Miami, FL; and grandson, Gordon Grant of Vero Beach.

A service at St. Augustine Episcopal Church will be announced at a later date.
