Tilmon Leroy Arnold, 87, Vero Beach

Tilmon Leroy Arnold, 87, passed away on Aug. 7, 2018, at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach. He was born in Vero Beach and a lifetime resident of the Treasure Coast. He graduated from Vero Beach High School.

Roy was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He worked for Piper Aircraft for 27 years and retired as a Quality Assurance Inspector. Roy was a member of The American Legion and The Moose Lodge both in Vero Beach.

In Roy’s younger years he was an avid bowler and a member of the traveling bowling league. Throughout his life he enjoyed fishing and camping with his with wife Liz, family, and friends.

Survivors include his spouse, Elizabeth Arnold; daughters, Lynn Kruger (Brian), of Vero Beach, and Sharon Sperry (Denver), of Vero Beach; sons, Donny Arnold, of Vero Beach, and Ronny Arnold, of Stuart; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will have a private interment at Winter Beach Cemetery at a later date.

Arrangements are by Strunk Funeral Home and Crematory, Vero Beach.

 

Carla D’Ascenzo, 36, Vero Beach

Carla D’Ascenzo, 36, passed away on Aug. 4, 2018, in Vero Beach. Carla was born in Ann Arbor, Mich., and moved to Vero Beach in 2008.

Carla worked as a medical assistant. She was known for her personality and her great sense of humor. She was a graduate of Canton High School in Canton, Mich.

Survivors include her mother, Nancy D’Ascenzo, of Vero Beach; father, Carmine D’Ascenzo, of Vero Beach; sister, Gina D’Ascenzo, of Westland, Mich.; brothers, Michael D’Ascenzo, of Westland, Mich., and Carmine D’Ascenzo Jr., of Carlton, Mich.; nephews, Gabriel D’Ascenzo, of Westland, Mich., and Dante D’Ascenzo, of Westland, Mich.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.

 

Robert R. Magness, 72, Fellsmere

Robert R. Magness, 72, of Fellsmere, was called home to the Lord on Aug. 6, 2018, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

Surrounded by his family at the time of his death, Robert will be forever loved and remembered by all.

Born in Maryville, Tenn., on April 22, 1946, Robert retired as a house painter after many years in this profession that he loved.

He remained active in his community and continued his devotion to the River of Life Church of God.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Beatrice, of 48 years; his loving daughters, Norma Jean Lucas (husband, Kenneth Lucas) and grandchildren Donna, Carmen, Kenny, Joshua; grandsons, Shannon Battles and Christopher Battles; Carol Ferguson; grandson, Abel Gallegos; Cathy Martinez (husband, Luis Martinez), grandchildren Daniela C., Lucas Raymond, and Madison O.;  and Melissa Joy Magness.   Robert is also survived by many, many, great-grandchildren as well as his precious puppy, Pepey.

Robert is preceded in death by his daughters, Betty Scurlock and Sandra Battles; and his grandson, Daniel Battles.

Services for Robert R. Magness will be on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018. The viewing will be held from 1:30– 2:30 p.m. at River of Life Church of God, 99 North Pine St., Fellsmere. The funeral service will be held immediately afterward.
