Martin Siegfried Preuss, 83, Vero Beach

Martin Siegfried Preuss, 83, of Vero Beach, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2018. He was born July 19, 1934, in West Chester, Pa., and moved to Vero Beach in 2002, coming from Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

Mr. Preuss was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War, having served as Military Police.

He was a graduate of the New York Institute of Banking, spending 40 years in banking and retiring as Senior Vice President.

Mr. Preuss was a 53-year member of AA, a member of LaGrange Lions Club, Rotary Club of LaGrange, and was an elected member of The Town Board of LaGrange, N.Y. He was also a life-member of Chelsea Yacht Club and their treasurer for 19 years.

Mr. Preuss was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Vero Beach and was Past Treasurer of The Auxiliary of Indian River Medical Center, a 15-year member volunteering in the hospital emergency room.

Mr. Preuss was an adopted son and the oldest of three children. He loved playing golf most days.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Barbara Preuss; daughter, Alison Preuss, of Vero Beach; grandsons, John and Steven Choate, of Texas; and great-grandson, Steven Joshua Choate, of San Diego, Calif.; brothers, Fred Preuss and Paul (Becky) Preuss; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Rev. Frederick E. and Alice M. Starkloph Preuss.

A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Vero Beach.
