INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Highway troopers continue to investigate a single-vehicle crash that left a 36-year-old man dead over the weekend.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers said Alberto Sanchez Leon, of Margate, was driving a dump truck about 9 a.m. Saturday in the outside lane on northbound Florida’s Turnpike near mile marker 174. When the truck came to a curve in the roadway, Leon veered the vehicle to the left and right, and then lost control.

The truck rolled on its side, collided with a guardrail and slid down a grass embankment, troopers said. Leon, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene, FHP spokesman Alvaro Feola said.

FHP continues to investigate the deadly crash.
