First Presbyterian Church offers Night of Music to celebrate Easter Week

VERO BEACH — Enjoy Darkness to Light: A night of music to celebrate Easter week with string duo Hanneke Cassel and Mike Block on Tuesday, March 27,  at 7:30 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church sanctuary, 520 Royal Palm Blvd., Vero Beach.

Parking is located at the northwest corner of Royal Palm Boulevard and Indian River Drive.

Admission is by donation; proceeds benefit the Mike Block String Camp scholarship fund.

Hanneke Cassel (fiddle) and Mike Block (cello/voice) have been performing as a duo since 2007. Together, they present an exciting show featuring traditional and original music drawing from their Celtic, Americana, and Classical backgrounds.

“There appears to be nothing these two can’t do musically, from the deepest traditional wellsprings to driving toe-curling acoustic fireworks,” said Grammy-nominated violinist Darol Anger. “Two huge personalities let us into their amazing musical world.”

The concert serves as a fundraiser to benefit the Mike Block String Camp scholarship fund. The camp will take place from July 9-14 and offers education for string players of all ages and backgrounds in non-Classical traditions and contemporary musical styles, with emphasis on learning by ear, creativity, collaboration, and performance.
