Sebastian hosts Beautiful Lagoon Fine Art exhibition March 17, 18

SEBASTIAN — The Sebastian River Art Club presents its Second Annual Beautiful Lagoon Fine Art Exhibition, March 17 and 18, at the Club’s headquarters 1245 Main Street, Sebastian.

The show benefits the Indian River Lagoon National Estuary Program, and all works depict Lagoon scenes and life along the Indian River Lagoon.

Over 100 Lagoon-related paintings will be on view, along with sculptures, works in wood and glass, jewelry, pottery and more, and competition for prizes will be evident by the quality of work displayed.

An Opening Reception will be held March 17 from 4-8 p.m., and Awards and Appreciation Ceremony at 6 p.m.

The winning entries, if not sold, will continue being displayed in two additional venues: The Environmental Learning Center and the Foyer Gallery in the Emerson Center.

In a separate gallery space apart from the show, unframed “Off-The-Easel” works will be available for quick sale at $50, with also a percentage dedicated to the Lagoon Council. These smaller works will include all subjects and all mediums.

As a bonus feast for the eyes, the Sebastian Quilt Club will be covering the walls of the exhibit room with their beautifully-rendered quilts, which will be mostly water-related. This very philanthropic group has a long history of giving back: quilts for babies, nursing homes, treatment centers, shelters, and more. The “pairing” of the diverse arts is a perfect backdrop for this year’s very special event.

While at the show, browse through the multi-room gallery spaces, and enjoy viewing the artistic talents of some of the 190 members.

Raffle tickets will be available to win a framed work of art by some very renowned artists, with all proceeds benefitting the Club’s Rosalee Taylor Hume Scholarship Fund.

The Lagoon show hours will be Saturday, March 17, 4-8 p.m., and Sunday, March 18, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
