In Memoriam: Feb. 22

Brenda Joyce Edwards, 78, Vero Beach

Brenda Joyce Edwards, 78, of Vero Beach, was born on Feb. 9, 1941, in Day, Fla., and was called to heaven on Feb. 19, 2018.

She moved to the Vero Beach area as a young child and graduated from Vero Beach High School in 1959.

She was a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked selflessly at Florida Baptist Retirement Center until her she retired, in 2001.

She was the beloved mother of four children, Marsha Peterson (Kenny), Cynthia Edwards, Jonathan Edwards (Kelly), and Brenda Milliner (Nathan). She found great joy and was a proud Nana to her seven grandchildren, Chase Strickland, Jessica Peterson, Jacob Martin, Kendall Peterson, Lexi Edwards, Jaci Edwards, and Lily Milliner, and her one great-grandchild, Ainslee Jo Strickland.

Joyce was preceded in death by her mother and step-father Mae and Al Bagshaw; and her father, C.W. Rodgers.

Her family expresses their deep appreciation to everyone who touched Joyce’s life and loved her.

A memorial service will be held on Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. at Sebastian Christian Church.

Any Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Indian River County.

 

Wendy Dee Griffin, 44, Vero Beach

Wendy Dee Griffin, 44, of Vero Beach, peacefully passed away after a long battle with Stage 4 Brain Cancer on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, at VNA Hospice House. She was born on Jan. 17, 1974, in Springfield, Ohio.

In 1992 she married Jason Griffin, and together they had two children, Vada Padovano, 24, and Gillian Griffin, 19.

Wendy is survived by her precious baby boy, Samuel, 1; sister, Dawn Romero; and Mother, Elizabeth Hoppes.

A unique soul, Wendy was very passionate in all her endeavors. She will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Service at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home will be held at 1655 27th St. Vero Beach, on Feb. 24, 3-5 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the Samuel J. Arnold College Fund, care of Jane Ford, 8950 8th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32968.

A celebration of life is also to be held on March 24.
