William H. Carey, 83, Sebastian

William H. Carey, 83, of Sebastian, passed away on Feb. 4, 2018.  Bill was born in Jersey City, N.J., on Aug. 26, 1934.

Bill served in the U.S. Navy and retired as the N.J. Gaming Commissioner before moving to Florida in 2005.

Survivors include his former wife, Carole Wenger (the mother of his children); his children, Cheryll Martin, Caryn Taggart, Billy Carey, and Cindy Vance; and his grandchildren, Carey, Carra, Keven, Shawna, Shanea, Kathryn, Brody, and Brighton.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a Visitation from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8, at Seawinds Funeral Home, 735 S. Fleming St., Sebastian.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11am, Friday, Feb. 9, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 13075 U.S. 1, Sebastian.

Burial with military honors will follow at Sebastian Cemetery, Sebastian, FL.

Katherine Groepler, 86, Sebastian

Katherine “Mickey” Groepler, 86, of Sebastian, formerly of Seaford, N.Y., went to heaven on Jan. 28, 2018.

She is survived by her loving husband, Moritz (Bill) Groepler; her devoted sons, Mark and Eric (Denise); and grandson, Nick; as well as her sister, Joan; and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Elizabeth Episcopal Church, 901 Clearmont St., Sebastian, on Thursday, Feb. 8, at 10 a.m., with a reception to follow.  Seawinds Funeral Home.

 

Ray Kincaid, 105, Vero Beach

Ray Kincaid, 105, of Vero Beach, passed away peacefully on Feb. 4, 2018. Born in Athens, Maine, he retired from the United States Postal Service in Skowhegan, Maine, and moved to Vero in 1980.

He is survived by his son, Larry (wife, Carmen); and daughter, Mary; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 78 years, Lucy.

Interment will be in Skowhegan. There will be no public services.

Shannon N. Morgan, 41, Vero Beach

Shannon N. Morgan, 41, of Vero Beach, died Feb. 3, 2018, at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.

Shannon was born in Vero Beach and has been a life time resident of Vero Beach. She attended Vero Beach Senior High School.

Survivors include her mother, Deborah Colleen Stabe, of Vero Beach; grandparents, Bob and Flo Stabe, of Vero Beach; uncles, Jeff Stabe (Beth) and Rob Stabe (Debbie), both of Vero Beach; aunt, Lisa Stabe, of Louisville, Ky.; cousins and all of their children, Katie Peavley (Will), of Whispering Pines, N.C., Jennifer Stabe, of Denver, Colo., Brittany Stabe, of Vero Beach, Arianna Fowler (Corey), of Louisville, Ky., Caylin Samuel (Xavier), of Ft. Stewart, Ga., and Jeffrey Stabe (MacKenzie), of Lake Wales, Fla.; and extended family in Sarasota, Fla., and New York.

Shannon was preceded in death by her father, John Neill; and her cousin, Jonathan Grey Stabe, in 2002.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Church of God/ Jonathan Stabe Memorial Scholarship, 1105 58th Ave., Vero Beach, FL 32966 and/or VNA- Hospice House 901 37th Street Vero Beach, FL 32960 in memory of Shannon N. Morgan.

Visitation will be held 4:30-6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach. A memorial service will begin at 6 p.m.
