Winners honored for Regional Science and Engineering Fair

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Students in local schools from kindergarten through 5th grade were honored for their achievements at the Regional Science and Engineering Fair, officials said.

The fair, held in partnership with the Education Foundation of Indian River County and the School District, was held Jan. 27 at Gifford Middle School, 4530 28th Court. Nearly 320 students, from 17 public and independent schools, presented 200 projects for the fair’s elementary division.

Students were honored for their success at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Elementary Award Ceremony, which was held at Sebastian River High School’s Performing Arts Center, 9001 Shark Boulevard. Here is a complete list of all the winners:

Winning lottery ticket sold at Publix in Sebastian

SEBASTIAN — A local Publix was one of three locations statewide to sell a winning Florida lottery ticket worth more than $40,000 for Monday's drawing, officials said. The Fantasy 5 quick pick ticket was sold at the Publix at 1451 Sebastian Boulevard, Sebastian. The winning numbers were 04-17-18-19-29, lottery officials said. Each winner will receive the grand prize of $44,485.93, according to lottery officials. It was unclear if the winner had already claimed their prize.

Two crashes involving semi-trailers, dump truck reported on I-95

Three people were hurt after two crashes involving semi-tractor trailers and a dump truck that occurred Wednesday along Interstate 95, officials said. The conditions of those injured were not immediately available. The first wreck - involving one semi-tractor trailer and a dump truck - happened about 7:30 a.m. on northbound I-95 near the 145-mile marker, Indian River County Sheriff's officials said. Two people were taken to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce, Indian River County Fire Rescue Bureau Chief Bill Herrington said. The collision briefly blocked all northbound lanes.
