Crash on I-95 kills 3 near Vero

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Three people are dead following a 2-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 Saturday evening.

Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash near mile marker 143.

According to FHP, Geena M. Brown, 18, of Melbourne, was traveling north on the highway in a 2012 Ford Mustang when her vehicle veered into the median and collided with a vehicle traveling south.

Brown’s Mustang struck a 2012 Cadillac SRX, killing two passengers and seriously injuring the driver. Brown, too, was killed in the crash.

FHP identified the Cadillac driver as 45-year-old Michele Maugeri, of Barefoot Bay. He was taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center.

His passengers, from Sebastian, were Gregorio Maugeri, 76, and Sebastiana Maugeri, 78.
