Arlene K. Goodwin, 95, Vero Beach

Arlene K. Goodwin, 95, of Vero Beach, passed away Jan. 20, 2018, at her home. She was born in Shamokin, Pa., and lived in Vero Beach for 38 years coming from Miami.

She attended Holy Cross Catholic Church, St. John of The Cross Catholic Church and St. Helen Catholic Church; was a member of The National League of American PEN Women, Vero Beach; The Republican Women’s Club of Vero Beach; and sat on the board of The Pregnancy Crisis Center of Vero Beach and The Center for The Arts.

Survivors include her daughters Paula Selvanik (Mike), of Pembroke Pines, and Sue Mortimer(Jim), of Valrico, Fla., 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul Lamb, Jim Goodwin, and Jeremiah Carey; and daughter, Sally Mogan.

Memorial contributions may be made to The VNA Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to Noon on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018, at St. Helen Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Noon.

Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Ft. Pierce.

 

Carlina “Beba” Masmontet, 93, Vero Beach

Carlina “Beba” Masmontet, 93, of Vero Beach, passed away peacefully on Jan. 22, 2018, at VNA Hospice House. Born in Havana, Cuba, on Nov. 11, 1924, she had been a resident of Vero Beach since 1962.

She was a beloved Wife, Mother, Aunt, Grandmother and Friend to many, she will be dearly missed.

Predeceased by her daughter, Lina Masmontet in 2013, and her brothers, Emilio and Carlos Lerma, she is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Hubert; grandsons, Ty Barnes, of West Palm Beach, Drew (Mariana) Barnes, of Orlando, Matt (Whitney) Barnes, of Vero Beach; and great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Grace Barnes and Thomas Rafael Barnes.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Noon Saturday, Jan. 27, at St. Helen Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Helen Catholic Church, 2085 Tallahassee Avenue, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

 

Vance O. Stillinger, 74, Sebastian

Vance O. Stillinger, 74, of Sebastian, died Jan 17, 2018, at Consulate Health Care of Vero Beach. He was born in Charleston, S.C., and lived in Sebastian for 24 years.

He was a Mason and a Shriner.

Survivors include his wife, Kristin LaFave Stillinger; and sons, Tony (Alissa), of Melbourne, and David (Tammy), of Atlanta, Ga.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

No services are scheduled at this time.
