INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – The Indian River County Healthy Start Coalition is essential in ensuring every baby in Indian River County has the opportunity for a healthy start. They do this by providing five important programs that serves every mother, every family and every baby in Indian River County: MomCare, Healthy Families, Healthy Start Health Education Services, Babies & Beyond and Parents as Teachers.
They have recently purchased the 12,000-square-foot suite of offices on the second floor of the Bridgewater Office Building located at 1555 Indian River Blvd., Vero Beach.
“We were bulging at the seams at our former 17th Street office, which necessitated our move,” said Andrea Berry, Chief Executive Officer for Healthy Start. “With the expansion of our programs, we really needed more space for our moms and their babies, and after all, that’s what we are all about! Our entire team is now together in one space, under one roof, making us totally accessible to our community of moms and their babies to visit.”
The new space consists of room for programs, meetings, classes, a kitchen, and a large community room, all with easy access by elevator and plenty of convenient parking.
The non-profit, also celebrating its 25th anniversary, will celebrate its move with a “Community Open House and Ribbon Cutting” to be held on Thursday, Jan. 18, from 4-6 p.m.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for all pregnant moms, Healthy Start clients, neighbors and friends to attend, meet our staff, and participate in hands-on activities that will show what Healthy Start does,” said Berry. “We will have informative handouts, and several computers ready for our guests to navigate our new Healthy Start and Dancing with Vero’s Stars websites. Learn about our Doula and Babies & Beyond programs, enjoy some light refreshments.”
The official Ribbon Cutting will be held by the IRC Chamber of Commerce at 5:15 p.m.
Two other non-profits, who are sharing an approximate 3,000-square-foot adjoining space on the second floor with the Healthy Start Coalition, will be showcasing themselves during the same time period.
The administrative offices of the Treasure Coast Community Health (TCCH), which has provided affordable primary health care in Indian River County for 25 years opens in the new location for business on Jan. 1.
The Kindergarten Readiness Collaborative (KRC), which serves as the community’s backbone for organizing and convening cross-sector partners to ensure a coordinated and efficient early childhood system, joined the space on Dec. 1.
Established in 2015 as an outgrowth of the Moonshot Moment, KRC is dedicated to ensuring social service organizations, early childhood educators, civic leaders, philanthropists, and foundations are working together to meet the needs of Indian River County’s children from birth through age 5.
