High speed chase leads to trafficking cocaine charges

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Two men were awaiting court dates after troopers found 282 grams of cocaine in a vehicle following a high-speed, two-county chase on the interstate last month. The troopers also discovered a black Uzi-style gun loaded with plastic pellets and more than $13,000 in cash inside the car. Keishon Ramail Jones, 26, of Palm Coast, and Jerome Lewis Clark, 26, of Daytona Beach, each were charged with trafficking in cocaine. Clark was also charged with possession of cocaine, driving while license suspended with knowledge, reckless driving and fleeing and eluding a police officer. Motorcyclist killed in two-vehicle crash Monday in parking lot

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A motorcyclist died after he drove at a high speed through a parking lot, zoomed past a stop sign and slammed into another vehicle late Monday, sheriff's officials said. Deputies later learned the motorcycle was stolen from Orange County, according to Sgt. Kevin Jaworski, a spokesperson with the Indian River County Sheriff's Office. "Upon the arrival of deputies, the motorcycle rider was unresponsive and CPR was performed," Jaworski said. The 40-year-old motorcyclist was taken by ambulance to Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead, officials said. Vero Beach woman killed in motorcycle crash in Brevard County

BREVARD COUNTY — A Vero Beach motorcyclist was killed after slamming into the back of a pickup truck on the morning of New Year's Eve, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said. The name of the driver - a 36-year-old woman - was not publicly released. "(The motorcyclist) failed to stop for (the pickup) stopped ahead," troopers said in a crash report. "As a result, the front of (the motorcycle) struck the rear of (the pickup)." The driver of the pickup - a 75-year-old Malabar man - was not hurt, troopers said.
