Youth Sailing Foundation sailors win Treasure Coast Fall Series

VERO BEACH – The Fall 2017 Treasure Coast Regatta Series wrapped up last weekend with big wins for YSFIRC sailors.  Hosted by the US Sailing Center of Martin County in Jensen Beach, the regatta was the fifth and final leg of the series.

In the Club 420 class, the YSF team of Brendan Williams and Jake Haddad, both of Vero Beach, were the top finishers for the day, impressively sweeping all five races with 1st place victories.

But skipper Holly Gandolfo, captain of the Vero Beach High School Varsity Sailing Team, along with crew Mylee Smith, took top honors overall, finishing the day in 2nd place, which enabled them to clinch 1st place in the series.

Shae Riley and Peik Sander represented YSF in the Opti class.  Riley grabbed 2nd place in one race and finished 5th overall in the Gold Fleet.  Sander, sailing in only his second regatta ever, finished as high as 3rd and took 7th overall in the Silver Fleet.
