Sex with minor charges added for homicide suspect

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A man who was arrested Monday for the fatal shooting and armed robbery of a 53-year-old woman now faces additional sex charges involving a 17-year-old girl, deputies said.

The unrelated felony charges against Antonio Duane McNeal, 28, of the 8600 block of 64th Court, Vero Beach, stem from the girl telling deputies she had sex with him three times after he was released from prison in May.

McNeal and his cousin, Egbert Taylor, 20, of the 3800 block of 42nd Place, Vero Beach, each were charged Monday with murder, armed robbery and tampering with evidence.

The cousins were accused of robbing Sharon Sewell of her 90 opioid pills, fatally shooting her and leaving her body on the side of the road on Oct. 30 in the 6200 block of 61st Street.

During the homicide investigation, deputies looked through McNeal’s phone records to see who he called the day of the homicide. Phone records showed McNeal spoke to a 17-year-old Vero Beach High School student, deputies said.

Deputies spoke with the girl on Nov. 14 and she told them she was dating McNeal. The girl said she and McNeal had sex three times and she thought she was pregnant with his child because of a false positive home pregnancy test.

The girl told deputies McNeal calls her daily on her cell phone. Deputies told the girl to tell McNeal she was pregnant the next time he called her, deputies said.

McNeal, who had been arrested Nov. 9 for violation of probation, called the girl from the county jail Nov. 14. In the recorded phone call, McNeal admitted to having sex with the girl three times.

The extra charges were added Tuesday, court records show.
