Flood advisory issued until 12:15 p.m.

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a flood advisory for central Indian River County and southeastern Brevard County until 12:15 p.m.

At 10:18 a.m., Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to showers and thunderstorms along the Brevard and Indian River county coast, according to the National Weather Service.

This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen and rainfall totals around 3 inches are possible.

Areas that will experience flooding include Vero Beach, Sebastian, Palm Bay and Melbourne.

“A Flood Advisory means considerable ponding of water is occurring that will produce temporary flooding of roadways and other poorly drained areas,” the agency said.

Drivers are reminded to not travel through flooded roads.
