New season’s greetings at Museum’s swanky soiree

The Vero Beach Museum of Art ushered in the season with its invitational Director’s Society and Chairman’s Club Dinner last Friday evening, sponsored by Indian River Estates.

“Our Chairman’s Club and Director’s Society members are really the backbone of our support here at the Museum,” said Board Chair Sandy Rolf. “With your generous support we are able to reach out to the community and provide all kinds of different art experiences for children, for adults and all reaches of our county.”

In addition to a gourmet dinner catered by Elizabeth Kennedy & Co., guests were treated to a lecture on American landscape artist Thomas Cole entitled ‘A Closer Look: Thomas Cole’s Working Methods and Materials.’ The talk was tied in to the museum’s exhibit, DeWitt Boutelle after Thomas Cole: The Voyage of Life, on loan from the Manoogian Collection through Jan. 7.

“We’re delighted to have with us tonight the New York art world powerhouse couple,” said VBMA CEO Brady Roberts, introducing guest speakers Elizabeth Mankin Kornhauser, who is organizing an upcoming Thomas Cole exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Stephen Kornhauser, chief conservator at the New York Historical Society.
