In Memoriam: Nov. 15

Robert W. Finethy, 61, Vero Beach

Robert William Finethy Jr., 61, of Vero Beach, formerly of Billerica, Mass., passed away on Nov. 13, 2017, at Indian River Medical Center after an extended illness.

This memorial was created to remember him.

Born Oct. 31, 1956, Bob grew up in New England. He moved to Florida as an adult and was employed as a painter.

Robert was devoted to his faith and involved in his church, the Calvary Chapel of Vero Beach. He spoke about his life in the community and at schools, so that others could learn from his experience. Bob enjoyed the warm Florida weather and sunshine. He was an avid motorcycle rider.

He will be missed by his children, Robert Finethy III, Meghan O’Neill, David Finethy, Michelle Finethy and Brian Finethy. Bob is survived by his father, Robert Finethy Sr.; sisters, Donna Georges, Linda Alves and Elaine McCarthy; and brothers, Shaun Finethy and Shane Finethy.

He was predeceased by his mother Jean Marie Kent (Nee Scalley).

 

Florence Collins LaPorte, 94, Vero Beach

Florence Collins LaPorte, 94, passed away peacefully at Angel Care of Vero Beach, on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017. Born Nov. 1, 1923, in Yonkers, N.Y., she grew up in New York, lived in Vermont and North Carolina before settling in Florida.

She worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in New York City for a short time after her marriage before becoming a full time homemaker.

Florence was a longtime hospital volunteer in Burlington, Vt., as well as spent many years volunteering at Roseland United Methodist Church Thrift Shop in Roseland, Fla.

Survivors include her son, George Richard LaPorte, of Vero Beach, and her daughter, Barbara Horne, of Sebastian; as well as five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, George.

The family will hold a private service at a later date.

 

 

Susan K. Mione, 65, Vero Beach

Susan K. Mione, 65, of Vero Beach, passed away Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at her home. She was born Nov. 27, 1951, in Canton, Ohio.

The family will receive friends 10-11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 18, at the Strunk Funeral Home in Vero Beach with a memorial service celebrating her life beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
