Youth Guidance seeks sewing machines for new program

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – Youth Guidance will be starting a new program next semester called “Little Dresses for Africa.” In this program, pillowcases are turned into adorable simple dresses and shorts for children in Malawi, Africa, one of the poorest countries in Africa.

Youth Guidance is looking for working sewing machines of any age. The organization needs the machines to teach the youth in the program how to sew.

This project is international and thousands of dresses for girls and shorts for boys are sent to Michigan. A church group then forwards the clothing to Africa where they oversee the distribution of the items to the many villages. These precious children have so little and the joy on their faces when given a simple item of clothing is deeply touching.

The young people in Youth Guidance will not just be sending clothing, but hope.
