Patriot Golf Day benefits families of fallen, disabled veterans

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – Grand Harbor Golf & Beach Club, a private Club, is inviting golfers from all over to take advantage of this limited opportunity to hit the links to celebrate Patriot Golf Day. This is the primary fundraiser benefiting Folds of Honor, a nonprofit organization, that provides post- secondary educational scholarships for children and spouses of fallen and disabled veterans.

Over the years, Grand Harbor has been a Five Time Top Performer in funds raised. The need for donations is more critical now than ever before. For the first time in Folds of Honor history, the organization is unable to award a scholarship to every qualified applicant-including those who had been previous recipients.

Open to all golfers, Patriot Golf Day will take place on Friday, Nov. 10. During this event, golfers from Grand Harbor Club will be encouraged to take advantage of the sponsorship opportunities that help fund Folds of Honor scholarships.

Patriot Golf Day was launched in 2007 by Major Dan Rooney, a PGA Professional, USGA Member and former F-16 fighter pilot for the Oklahoma Air National Guard who founded Folds of Honor. The Patriot Golf Day campaign is jointly supported by the PGA of America and the United States Golf Association.

Over the last 10 years, golfers nationwide have been instrumental in raising donations through Patriot Golf Day events, resulting in over 10,000 scholarships to Folds of Honor recipients in all 50 states as well as Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and 41 PGA sections.

Patriot Golf Day will commence with a flyover, Honor Guard and representatives in uniform from all five branches of the service. Ceremonies involve a display of Military Vehicles, Coast Guard Boat, other Military items and a Color Guard ceremony featuring Vero Beach High School Senior, Samantha Kmetz, singing the National Anthem. A Gold Star Military Mom, Michelle Dale, will also be honored at this event.

This Charity Golf Scramble will begin with:
