Stuart F. Foster, 92, Vero Beach

Stuart F. Foster, 92, of Vero Beach, and Downie Island, Landsdowne, Ontario, Canada, passed away peacefully Oct. 1, 2017, at his home in Vero. He was born in Spofford, N.H., on April 1, 1925, the son of Harold E. and Elsie (Ware) Foster, Sr.

Stu graduated from Keene High School in New Hampshire, in 1943 and was immediately drafted to serve in the Army Air Force from 1943-1946 as a flight officer. On a Bill of Rights he graduated Wentworth Institute of Technology and attended M.I.T. He was employed at GE until he started his own MFR rep business in September of 1959 “S.F. Foster” becoming “Foster & Wagner, Inc.” in June 1983 and still running today.

Stu enjoyed golf, boating, fishing, hunting, Skiing and traveling. Stu was a member of Calvary Club in Manilus, N.Y., Smugglers Glen Golf & CC, Thousand Islands, Ontario, Canada, Vero Beach Country Club and Thousand Island Assoc. of Canada and the US.

Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Betty (Yetter) Foster; step-children, John O. Milstead, of Boca Raton, Fla.; Sarah (Milstead) Smoot, of Vero Beach; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; sister, Eloine Holmquist, of Brattleboro, Vt., and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Harold and Wallace and his wife of 40 years Dorothy (Beswick) Foster.

Graveside services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 6026 N. US 1, Ft. Pierce, Friday, Oct. 20, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Cliff Melvin of Christ By The Sea United Methodist Church officiating. A reception to follow immediately after at the Vero Beach Country Club, 800 30th St., Vero Beach.

Arrangements are by Strunk Funeral Home and Crematory, Vero Beach.
