Main Street Vero presents artist Ruth Feldman

VERO BEACH – Main Street Vero Beach presents Ruth Feldman as the Monthly Guest Artist for October. The artist’s reception will be Friday, Oct. 6, from 5 – 8 p.m. during Gallery Stroll.

“The work created for this exhibit is about reorienting my spirit to a new place and being able to connect spiritual and physically,” Ruth said. “It is about understanding the paradoxes of life. I am a transported New Englander establishing roots in Florida. Thus the subject of this exhibit.

“My love of working in layers has brought me to encaustic painting. I have worked in many kinds of media, watercolor, woodcut printing, digital photography and now encaustic. It is the use of layers that allows me to journey through these paradoxes that we all face.
“So please join me as I experience a new beginning and let my roots make their way in this new local. I hope you enjoy the art.”

Ruth graduated the School of the Museum of Fine Art after 15 years part-time enrollment in 2003.

“I focused on printmaking. I continued doing lots of woodcuts. The I became interested in digital photography. I went to Northeastern University and was awarded a Masters Certificate in digital photography. What fascinated me was the use of layers in the digital work, like woodcuts each layer enhanced the one below and made the story more complex. I found I loved layering and incorporating the etchings, lithographs and woodcuts that I loved with the digital images. I have done a whole body of working with digital montages! That was only the beginning. I experimented with many mediums and took lots of workshops. I began to find my voice and the message I wanted to share with my art!”
