Vero Beach Elementary School students walk the Tunnel of Hope

VERO BEACH – Pride, excitement and positive outlooks were abound when hundreds of Vero Beach Elementary School children donned handmade posters, hats and crowns as they marched through the Tunnel of Hope on Friday Sept. 22.

Members of The Executive Roundtable of Indian River County, school officials, and a myriad of other community leaders for achievement in Indian River County, visited the Vero Beach Elementary School Aug. 21 to encourage the students to reach for success in the school year ahead via The Tunnel of Hope. Some 600 kindergarten through sixth grade students, along with their teachers and other school officials, marched through the Tunnel flanked by these community leaders and shook hands, high-fived one another, and shared messages of praise and optimism..

The Executive Roundtable of Indian River County is a group of executive level community leaders from the school system, law enforcement, government and social service organizations, who come together to identify solutions and accomplish system changes that will protect and enhance the lives of Indian River County children, individuals, families and senior residents. The group’s initial focus is Kids at Hope, a national concept that demonstrates that all children are capable of success, with no exceptions.
