Cole Coppola Memorial Fishing Pier’s location to be unveiled

VERO BEACH – The Live Like Cole Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit charity dedicated to enriching the lives of others by putting kindness first and promoting self-worth, is excited to announce the upcoming unveiling of the location for Cole Coppola Memorial Fishing Pier.  The family-friendly, celebratory event, is scheduled to be held beginning at 11 a.m.  and will run until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, at Riverside Park by the Grand Pavilion. The event is open to the public and will include the unveiling of the pier location, live entertainment, a food truck, as well as an awards ceremony.

The “T” shaped, public fishing pier will consist of a 100-foot long by 8-foot wide access that will intersect with a 50-foot long by 8-foot wide terminal pier. The ground breaking is scheduled to take place in late October, with an estimated completion of the project in early January 2018.  The pier will provide a safe place for people to fish along with the Indian River Lagoon while generating a new ecosystem for marine wildlife.

“The unveiling of the location as well as the upcoming ground breaking of the fishing pier, is a culmination of the efforts and generosity of many people, both in the private and public sector, and is a testament of how a community can work together to achieve great success,” said Melanie Coppola, co-founder and CEO of the Foundation. “While bittersweet, this project, as well as the many other initiatives the Foundation has supported has been incredibly rewarding and is a wonderful way to carry my brother’s legacy forward.  We are looking forward to the completion of the pier as well as our next big community project as we continue to take action and spread kindness.”

For individuals, families, and business wishing to “make their mark” on the fishing pier, personalized treads can be purchased for $300 at the unveiling event or on line at www.livelikecole.org.

About the Live Like Cole Foundation

The mission of the Live Like Cole Foundation is to encourage children and adults alike to support others, to foster self-worth and to help out their fellow man.  Cole Coppola died as a result of injuries suffered after being hit by a drunk driver while riding his bike on the Alma Lee Loy Bridge days after his 16th birthday.  The passionate manner in which Cole lived his life and the positive impact that he had on many lives, serves as an opportunity for us and a reminder to “Live Like Cole” and continue his legacy by making a positive impact on our community and the lives of others.
