Police, deputies search for missing man

VERO BEACH — Police and deputies are looking for an 86-year-old man who went missing earlier this week.

John Hendricks, of Vero Beach, was last seen at 11:30 a.m. Monday at his home in the 500 block of 33rd Avenue, Vero Beach, police and deputies said.

Police said Hendricks might be with 83-year-old Nancy Hendricks. They might be traveling in a 2016 black Chrysler Town and Country van.

Hendricks is described as white, 6 feet and 170 pounds. A clothing description and direction of travel were not available.

Anyone with information on Hendrick’s whereabouts should contact Sheriff’s Detective Greg Farless at 772-978-6101. Callers who contact Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273-TIPS or tcwatch.org can remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward of up to $3,000.

Deputies investigating possible arson after brush fire fully contained

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Deputies were investigating the Sunday brush fire as a possible arson after learning two people were seen in the same wooded area moments before flames ignited. Detectives spoke with a witness and a person of interest, said Sgt. Kevin Jaworski, a spokesperson with the Indian River County Sheriff's Office. "A witness observed a male and female arguing in the woods. A short time later, the fire started," Jaworski said. "To us that warrants a closer look as to how this fire started."
