Doris Anderson Drake, 95, Vero Beach
Long time Vero Beach resident Doris (Anderson) Drake died on Sept. 17, 2017, at the age of 95. Doris was born in Wichita, Kan., on Oct. 1, 1921. She was the youngest of three children of the Reverend Doctor Harrison Ray Anderson and Margaret Anderson. Dr. Anderson moved the family to Chicago, Ill., in 1928 where he was Pastor of the Fourth Presbyterian Church until 1961.
Doris spent her early years in Chicago and moved to Vero Beach in 1957. For the last several years she has been a resident of Indian River Estates. Doris attended Wooster College in Wooster, Ohio, where she met and eventually married Charles Samuel Stryker. She and Charles had two sons, Charles Samuel “Sam” Stryker Jr. and Peter Anderson Stryker.
Doris and Charles were divorced and she remarried Robert E. Drake.
Doris and Bob Drake moved to Vero Beach in 1957 when Bob joined Piper Aircraft as the director of Piper’s newly formed Plastics Division. Doris was not a person who sat at home. She loved to work, play golf and travel. She helped start the Village Green development and ran the Porpoise Bay office at the Moorings for 30 years.
She was very frustrated when she finally had to retire from the Moorings at the age of 83. Doris and Bob were active members of the Vero Beach Country Club and she was equally frustrated when she had to stop playing golf with her beloved Saturday morning foursome. Doris treasured the many friends she made over the years. Through her work at the Moorings, involvement with the First Presbyterian Church, membership at the Vero Beach Country Club she made friends with residents, co-workers, fellow members, care givers, neighbors and many people in the community.
She would agree with the following quote from William Yeats: “Think where man’s glory begins and ends, and say my glory was I had such friends.”
Her brothers, Ladd and John, and her husband, Bob, who died in 1989, predeceased Doris. Her two sons, Sam and Peter, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren survive her.

Lloyd L. Faulkingham, Jr., 84, Vero Beach
Lloyd L. Faulkingham, Jr., 84, of Vero Beach, passed away on Sept. 18, 2017 at VNA Hospice House. He was born on July 2, 1933, in Lexington, Mass., to Margaret and Lloyd L. Faulkingham.
Lloyd grew up and graduated from Lexington High School, Class of 1951, and then went on to serve in the US Air Force during the Korean War. After he returned home, he joined the Lexington Police Department where he worked for over 30 years, retiring as a Lieutenant.
He was a member of Elks Lodge, VFW and American Legion in Lexington, Mass., and in Vero Beach.
Survivors include his sons, Mark, Matthew (Gail) and Ben; brother, William (Gail) Faulkingham; sister, Margaret (David) Lord of Jonesport, Maine; sister-in-law, Kristine Faulkingham; and two grandchildren. And a special thank you to his niece and caregiver, Marguerite “Peggy” Livermore.
Services will take place at a later date in Massachusetts.

Doris Mae Jackson, 92, Vero Beach
Doris Mae Jackson, 92, died Sept. 17, 2017 in Vero Beach. She was born in Vidalia, Ga .
She was a retired citrus packer.
Survivors include her three children, Billy W. Jackson, Marian Loudermilk, and John A. Jackson, Jr.; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Jackson, Sr.; and granddaughter, Pamela Kaye Jackson.

Montgomery Boyd Moltz, Sr., 84, Vero Beach
Montgomery Boyd Moltz, Sr., 84, of Vero Beach, died peacefully Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at VNA Hospice House. He was the son of the late Michael and Carrie Virginia Moltz.
Monty served in the US Army for two years stationed in Germany. He was employed as a Pressman for the Washington Post, Evening Star and finally the Wall Street Journal until his retirement in 1995.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen A. Moltz; his children, Kenneth V. Moltz, Lawrence A. Moltz, Cari L. Moltz, Montgomery B. Moltz Jr., Diane M. Prokop and Sharon A. McElroy; grandchildren; Zach McElroy, Jason McElroy, Alek Nieves, Logan Prokop and Chad Moltz; three brothers, Eddie, Bobby and Preston Moltz; three sisters, Betty Smandra, Carolyn Kettner , Beverly Kahl and a host of nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind many friends and a large extended family.
A Memorial Service will be held at 9:30 A.M. on Friday, Sept. 22, 2017 at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 U.S. 1, North Mims, FL 32754

George Morales Jr., 73, Vero Beach
George Morales Jr., 73, passed away Sept. 15, 2017 at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach. George was born in Manhattan, N.Y., and was a lifelong resident of Vero Beach.
He with his wife, Arlene, owned and operated the Westside Beanery and Town and Country Caterer’s for 43 years. George was an avid bowler and fisherman, he loved to sit on the beach at the boardwalk, he also had a deep appreciation for wildlife.
He is survived by sons, Gregory “Dean” Morales (Trisha), Gary Morales, George Morales, all of Vero Beach, and Howard Williams, of Baltimore, Md.; daughter, Rose Mary Gray, also of Vero Beach; and 10 grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 39 years, Arlene.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Richard Thomas Palmer, 87, Vero Beach
Richard Thomas Palmer, 87, of Vero Beach, passed away Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach. Richard was born in Wharton, N.J., and moved to Vero Beach 29 years ago from Succasunna, N.J.
He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Navy as a submariner. Richard had been an Equipment Specialist at Picatinny Arsenal in Morris County, N.J., before his retirement.
He was a member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church and a longtime member of the Newport Club in Vero Beach.
Survivors include his wife, Jacquinette Barker Palmer; daughters, Phyllis A. Lopez, of El Paso, Texas, and Mary Margaret Palmer, of Arizona; sister, Patricia A. Castle, of Pittsford, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, at the Strunk Funeral Home in Vero Beach. Mass will be celebrated 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 22, at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach. Interment with military honors will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery in Vero Beach.
