Avoid these flooded areas

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The weather in Indian River County is likely to continue to deteriorate as Hurricane Irma moves up the western side of the state.

With rain bands already dousing Vero with several inches of rain, the Police Department said motorists should avoid the following areas because of flooding of roads.

  • 10th Avenue between 17th and 19th Streets
  • 21st Street in the area of 8th Avenue and U.S. 1
  • Miracle Mile and the Treasure Coast Plaza
  • Royal Palm Boulevard and Royal Palm Place
  • U.S. 1 and Royal Palm Boulevard, 23rd Street
  • Old Dixie Boulevard between 16th Street and State Road 60
  • Roads near Fellsmere Elementary School

The Fellsmere Police Department said shortly before 11 a.m. Sunday that West New York Avenue between North Hickory Street and North Willow Street is closed because of flooding. It also said County Road 507 between New York Avenue and South Carolina Street is closed because of flooding.
