FWC rescues more than 200 Texans in storm

FWC saves more than 200 Texas from flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers have rescued more than 200 Texans from the catastrophic flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey, according to the Governor’s Office.

Gov. Rick Scott deployed nearly 125 FWC officers, more than 40 boats, 17 high water vehicles, two mobile command centers and eight shallow draft vessels to Houston, Texas, to assist with ongoing search and rescue and disaster response efforts.

Hurricane Harvey swept through the Texas Gulf Coast over the weekend and caused massive flooding in Houston. The storm, which weakened to a tropical storm Saturday, has claimed at least 14 lives and is headed east toward Louisiana.
