Inaugural ‘I Voted’ Sticker Contest underway

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – The Indian River County Supervisor of Elections Office has announced its inaugural “I Voted” Sticker Contest in partnership with the Cultural Council of Indian River County and the Vero Beach Museum of Art.

Indian River County high school and college students and encouraged to compete and design Indian River County’s official “I Voted” sticker. The winning design will be printed on stickers and serve as the official “I Voted” sticker during the 2017-2018 election cycle.

The Indian River County Supervisor of Elections Office estimates that approximately 55,000 voters will cast a ballot in person during the next three elections, which means that 55,000 residents could end up wearing the winning student’s design as a badge of honor.

Rather than reordering traditional “I Voted” stickers or designing its own, the Office decided to use the desire for a new sticker as a way to inspire young adults to play an exciting role in the democratic process and raise awareness about upcoming elections, according to Indian River County Supervisor of Elections Leslie Swan.

The deadline to submit “I voted” designs is Friday Sept. 15. For official contest rules and entry form, go to www.VoteIndianRiver.com

Students can submit their designs online by using the Entry Form, or by emailing info@voteindianriver.com. All entries must be submitted in PDF, JPG, or PNG format.

Besides “I Voted” sticker fame, the winning designer will receive a $50 gift card to Michaels from the Supervisor of Elections Office, a Family Membership to the Vero Beach Museum of Art, and an Artist Membership to the Cultural Council of Indian River County.

In addition, the winning design and two runners up will be on display at the Celebrate the Arts Festival in Riverside Park on Saturday, Sept. 23.
