IRSC Women’s Swim Team recognized by NJCAA for academic achievement

The Indian River State College 2016-2017 Women’s Swimming and Diving Team was recently recognized as one of the top performing academic teams in the nation by the National Junior College Athletics Association.

The NJCAA announced the Academic Team of the Year Award for individual sports, naming the IRSC Women’s Swimming and Diving program as the top recipient in their sport with a cumulative team GPA of 3.32.
A total of 25 teams – 12 men’s and 13 women’s – were honored for accumulating the highest GPA in their respective sport while meeting the minimum 3.0 requirement. A total of 740 teams posted a 3.0 GPA or higher, breaking the previous record of 687 set last year, making the IRSC women’s swim team GPA among the highest in the nation.

The NJCAA recognizes the team with the highest overall grade-point average for their sport and gender with the NJCAA Academic Team of the Year Award. IRSC congratulates the Women’s Swimming and Diving team for their outstanding academic achievement.
