Chamber 2017 Leadership graduates announced

The Indian River County Chamber of Commerce held the 11th Leadership Indian River County graduation dinner on July 18, 2017 with eighteen individuals completing the 2017 program. The Chamber began Leadership Indian River County in 2006 and have since graduated 226 individuals. Former graduates have been inspired to open their own businesses, taken leadership positions in their companies and local organizations, and have been elected to public office.

TD Bank sponsored the graduation program. Guest speaker for the graduation was Jeff Susi, President and CEO of Indian River Medical Center. Mr. Susi spoke to the group about leadership characteristics and the importance of mentorship. He stated from his own experience “There is not a more rewarding feeling than watching someone you mentor grow and become a success.”

The 2017 Leadership Indian River County graduates are: Toni Abraham, Indian River County Chamber of Commerce; Tammy Bursick, City of Vero Beach, Jeff Carver, School District of Indian River County; Jo-Ann Copeland, Marine Bank & Trust Company; Jessica Francis, Marine Bank & Trust Company; Peggy Gibbs, Gifford Youth Achievement Center; Devon Green, Indian River State College; Sharon Hayes, Keiser University; Shannon Maitland, Kindergarten Readiness Collaborative; David Myers, D Myers and Associates Mortgage Consulting ; Joe Peterson, Piper Aircraft, Inc.; Larry Reisman, Press Journal/TCPalm/ Treasure Coast Newspapers; Marsha Ryall-Fromang, National Bank of Commerce; Angie Schepers, Image360, Terry Schlitt, MBV Engineering, Inc.; Leslie Swan, Supervisor of Elections; Dane R. Ullian, Gould Cooksey Fennell; and Shannon Wesley, Indian River County Chamber of Commerce.

Leadership Indian River County is a 7-month long community leadership program offered by Chamber. The program is based on a model that incorporates nourishing and developing community leaders by building community knowledge and gaining an understanding of community stewardship. The program brings focus on variety of social, economic, and geographic issues.

The Indian River County Chamber of Commerce will accept applications for the 2018 Leadership Indian River County class now through November 2017. A new class will be named in December.

Scholarships are available. The class begins in January of 2018 and runs through July with one day long session each month.
