VERO BEACH — A man was arrested after police said he pistol-whipped his employee after he found him getting high in a company truck, according to an Indian River County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.

John Snow, 44, of the 4300 block of 62nd Court, Vero Beach, was charged with aggravated battery and aggravated assault. He was released Saturday from the Indian River County Jail on $20,000 bail.

Officers responded Friday to a disturbance between two vehicles in the 1900 block of 9th Avenue, the report states. The response time was not immediately available.

Upon arrival, officers spoke to a man who was covered in blood and had a large cut on the back of his head, the report states. The man told officers he was getting high in Gifford inside a company truck when he was supposed to be working.

Information on the type of job he has was not available.

He said his boss found out and chased him in his vehicle at a high rate of speed southbound on U.S. 1, the report states. He told deputies he pulled into a Classic Car Wash when his boss, later identified as Snow, ran up to him with a pistol, pointed it at him and said “I’m going to shoot you.”

When the man tried to run away, Snow hit him in the head with the pistol, the report states.

Police spoke with Snow, who told them he was concerned about the tools in the company vehicle and thought they might be pawned for drugs. He said he chased the man in his vehicle from Gifford into Vero Beach at a speed he thought was 130 mph.

When police asked Snow if he hit the man with a pistol, he told them no and said the man might have gotten the cut on his head from falling into the bumper.

Officers reviewed surveillance footage from Classic Car Wash, which showed the two vehicles driving into the car wash. It then shows Snow getting out of his SUV with a black pistol and pointing it at the man.

Snow then hit the man in the head with the pistol, the report states. Police arrested Snow and took him to the Indian River County Jail for booking.
